Beloved Belindy is a character from the Raggedy Ann franchise, her original design was an unfortuante stereotype and so she fell out of popularity in the 60's, but was re-designed in the 70's. This new design never caught on, and she's been left as a relic of the series. Since I love her new design, I decided to make my own spin on it.
For this I used my usual rag doll pattern, and her dress was patterend via her measurements.
She got a wide lined circle skirt with a simple bodice attached, the gingham fabric here is thrifted and I found the yellow flowered cotton to tie in to the flowers on the official design. Underneath her dress she has bloomers just like a Raggedy Ann. Since the new design was released in the 70's, that era of girl's clothing is what I used for reference.
For her hair, I made wefts out of big loops of yarn. Starting with the edge of her face, I sewed them in a close spiral which ended at the back of her head.
