Topsy is a silly clown doll seen in the first few scenes of Raggedy Ann and Andy: a Musical Adventure. She's fun and expressive and I've wanted to replicate her real-life design made for the movie ever since I saw it, but I didn't have the space. So I finally gave in and made a miniature version.
Like some of my other dolls, her head and hands are sculpted out of clay and attached to wires. I went back on forth on giving her a wire skeleton for posing or making her loose and floppy like in the movie, but since she's so small and wouldn't really have the weight to flop around in different positions anyway, I went with wires.
After her limps were attached, I wrapped her body fabric around the torso and sewed the seams on either side. Her neck ruffle is made of a piece of ribbon folded and sewn along one side.
