Long Furbies

Original characters & commissioned designs - 2019-2020

There is a whole community around maing modified Furbies, called "oddbodies", which I was part of for about a year. After the first few - which I and a friend designed - we also took commisions and worked with the buyer to create each one. I did most of the construction half, and made over 20 long Furbies in that time - plus many more with less dramatic modifications.

The finished piecs were shipped all over the world, I believe the farthest one traveled was Japan. We also managed commission pricing and budgeting, though at the time I was in school and it was more for fun than making a big profit.

Moire

Made for Auction

Moire was our response to the overwhelming popularity of Mothball's design, as we refused to make a design too similar to her. Her caterpillar feet, antlers, and rainbow fur make it clear they're closely related, but she has a darker, punk aesthetic. Her metalic face and antlers and the designs in her eyes were based on the shifting colors in spilled oil. We put her up for auction, and she sold for $525.

Circe and Pasiphae

Commission

This one was a challenge! I had done some slightly different shapes at this point, but a two headed furby was new! We discussed a mystical theme to the two of them, with an etherial grey and purple palette and sacred geometry painted on their eyelids. These two were the last comission I ever took.

Made out of an early resin replica bought on etsy. The one I got was cheaper because of some issues with the molding process, which I covered up with sculpted coral. Her tail was the most complex feature I had attempted at that point, and took hours of hand sewing wire inside the satin fins in order to create the desired shape. Her full name is Bubbles Flim-Flam Onegaishimasu, and she was originally comissioned by my mom.
