Sockberus

Sockberus (sock-Cerberus) was created for Mount Hood Community College's production of All the Great Books Abridged. They needed each dog to be able to be operated by one puppeteer, so each of the center heads is connected to two "dummy" neighbors.

I began with making six of the same sock puppet, four red and two grey, with goofy ping-pong-ball eyes. Then I connected the heads together with popsicle sticks (these later got painted black) and stuffed the two side heads of each so they appeared just as full as the center.

Afterward, they each got little unique embelishments like ears, tounges, and mop-yarn hair.
