Frog Embroidery

School Project - 2020

Process

This frog embroidery animation was part of a self-directed project in High School. Each frame was drawn beforehand, then traced onto a single piece of fabric and hand-embroidered. I was interested in exploring the intersection between traditional art and video media, and how the process for making a film also creates physical artifacts that are art pieces themselves. Considering how time-consuming embroidery is, I kept my scope limited to a short, 16-frame animation. It's a concept I had greater intent for, possibly a longer animation whose frames could be turned into a quilt, but given how time-intensive the process is, it may be a project for the far future.
